Brisbane Show Day Holiday for Logan

Carbrook State School will be closed on
Monday 11 August 2025
for the Brisbane Show day.
Principal Mark Winrow

We have had an incredible start to Semester 2. Our students must have used their holidays wisely, because they have returned ready to learn and committed to our school expectations.
Report Cards
At the end of last semester your child will have received a report card, informing you of their level of achievement against the standards in the Australian Curriculum. At a school level, we have discovered many highlights of children improving their level of achievement which is a testament to their commitment and the quality of instruction our staff provide. I encourage parents to celebrate the successes in their child’s report card and to set goals for the semester ahead.
School Opinion Survey
From next week, every family will receive an email invitation to participate in the annual School Opinion Survey. These invitations are sent from Central Office who manage the survey. The survey is conducted in every State school each year to provide feedback on a range of issues. The survey is anonymous. I encourage parents to take the time to complete the survey. When completing the survey, please make sure you are in a calm state to give each question careful consideration, as we value and act on the information it provides.
District Athletics
Last week a team of athletes from our school competed at the Beenleigh Zone Athletics trials. Every student gave maximum effort and demonstrated our school’s core values in the community. Many students finished in the top 3 and returned the next day for the next level of trials. I am very proud of these students’ efforts and thank Mr Cook and Mrs Ariel for making this opportunity available.
Responsible Online Profiles
In recent weeks, we have had to manage a number of incidents that have arisen from students accessing inappropriate information and language online out of school hours. Sadly, some students have been discussing the content and repeating the language with their peers at school. Fortunately, we have strict supervision and filters at school to ensure students maintain a safe online profile while at school. Parents are reminded of the importance of maintaining similar controls at home to keep their children safe. At school, we also explicitly teach children how to maintain an appropriate online profile and to use polite and respectful language, with consequences for those who do not meet these expectations. I thank parents for supporting us in teaching our students how to be safe, respectful and responsible learners. Great things happen when we work together.
Deputy Principal Kerry-Ann Reese

During week 5, Tuesday 12 August - Friday 15 August, we will be putting the spotlight on bullying during the National Week Against Bullying.
As part of our continued commitment to fostering a safe and positive school environment, we will be hosting a Bullying No Way community event on
Thursday, 14 August from 9:15am to 10:15am.
The purpose of this event is to raise awareness and promote respectful relationships and kindness within our school and wider community.
We wish to invite parents and carers to attend this event and engage in meaningful activities that reflect the key messages of the Bullying No Way initiative.
On this day we ask students to wear PURPLE.
We look forward to seeing our community come together to promote the message - Bullying No Way!

NAIDOC Showcase
Jingeri!
Carbrook State School’s work in the area of embedding First Nations perspectives was on full display recently at the South East Region NAIDOC Showcase held at Gainsborough State School. Our display highlighted the fact that we are embedding First Nations perspectives across the curriculum, in all year levels, in so many wonderful and meaningful ways.
The display also featured a number of astounding collages, paintings, etchings and sculptures by our talented students and our freshly-minted Reconciliation Action Plan.
The First Nations Committee meets once or twice a term and we would like to invite any interested members of our school community to reach out to Ms Witt or Mrs Boobyer if you’d like to know when we will next be meeting as you are most warmly welcome to join us. Our showcase display is now up in the office foyer so please do pop in to check it out when you’re next at school.
