A big thank you to our wonderful Carbrook community for supporting our recent whole school events. It was fantastic to see so many families joining us for our Celebration of Learning, Book Week Parade, Book Fair, and the always-popular P&C Disco. These events are only possible with your encouragement, enthusiasm, and involvement, and we truly value the way our community comes together to celebrate learning and have fun.
We are now looking forward to our next event — Pyjama Day, organised by our Student Council, on Friday 12 September. We can’t wait to see everyone join in the fun!

Parent Teacher Interviews
In Week 10, Wednesday 17 September, Carbrook State School will be hosting parent teacher interviews for Term 3. Teachers would like the opportunity to share with you how your child is engaging in their learning and progressing against the year-level achievement standards outlined in the Australian Curriculum.
Bookings for parent teacher interviews are made online. Bookings can be made from Monday, 8 September from 9am. The booking window will close at midday on Monday 15 September. Bookings can be accessed via this link https://eq.sobs.com.au/pt3/parent.php?schoolid=70910 and instructions for booking a parent teacher interview can be accessed via this link https://eq.sobs.com.au/docs/sobs-pt3-parents.pdf.

We look forward to connecting with you. If you have any questions regarding your interview, please contact your child’s class teacher.
Pre-Prep Interviews – Week 9
Pre-Prep interviews will be commencing in Week 9. If you have a child who will be ready to start Prep in 2026, we invite you to contact the school to begin the enrolment process.
Please reach out to our office staff for further information or to book an interview time. We look forward to welcoming our newest learners and their families to the Carbrook community.

📚 Book Week & Book Fair Wrap-Up – Thank You! 📚
What an adventure we’ve had over the past two weeks with Book Week and the Scholastic Book Fair! Our theme this year, “Book an Adventure,” has certainly lived up to its name.
📖 Thank You for Supporting Our Book Fair 📖
A huge thank you to all our families who supported the Book Fair. It was wonderful to see so many students (and their families!) exploring the treasure trove of books, posters, stationery, diaries and more. The excitement around reading was contagious and your support also helps provide valuable new resources for our school library.

Book Week Competitions & Winners
🖌️ Design an Adventure Book Cover 🖌️
This competition sparked so much creativity across our school! Students were challenged to design a book cover that included an exciting scene with a captivating title and their name as the author. A panel of teachers, teacher aides, and community members voted and after much deliberation, we are proud to announce our winners. Each of these talented artists will soon have their designs printed onto a jigsaw puzzle to keep as a special memento. Congratulations to our winners!

📖 Shortlisted Book Voting 📖
Throughout Book Week, classes explored this year’s shortlisted books and students were given the chance to vote for their favourites. Our school’s top three favourites were:
- Digger Digs Down
- South with the Seabirds
- The Garden of Broken Things
As part of the fun, some lucky voting slips were drawn at random and those students won the very book they voted for! Congratulations to all the winners.

Closing the Chapter
From creative competitions to the joy of choosing new books, Book Week and Book Fair have once again highlighted the power of reading to inspire imagination, adventure and discovery.
Thank you to all students, staff, parents, carers and community members for your incredible support in making these events such a success.
Remember: every book is a ticket to adventure – so keep reading and see where the next chapter takes you!
Happy reading,
The Library Team
